EEG (Electroencephalogram)
A painless recording of your brain's electrical activity — at the Baddi center. The key test for epilepsy, seizures and many neurological complaints.
Listening to the brain's electrical rhythm
Small sensors placed on the scalp pick up the brain's natural electrical signals, which are recorded as wavy traces on screen.
An EEG helps diagnose and monitor epilepsy and seizure disorders, fainting episodes, headache, sleep problems and confusion. It's completely painless, uses no radiation, and takes about 30–45 minutes.
Preparation is simple: wash your hair without oil or conditioner the night before, eat normally, and tell us about your seizure medicines — your doctor decides whether to adjust them briefly before the test. If your doctor has ordered a sleep-deprived EEG, we give you the exact hours at booking — typically 4–5 hours of sleep or less the night before. Never stop an epilepsy medicine on your own.
During the test
You relax on a recliner with eyes closed. The technician may ask you to breathe deeply for a few minutes, or show you a flashing light. These are standard activation steps that make abnormal brain activity easier to detect if it is present. You may even be asked to sleep briefly.
Who reads it
Your EEG is recorded by a trained technologist and reported by a neurologist / consultant physician with training in EEG. The report goes to your treating doctor.
Afterwards
No recovery time — you can drive and work normally. The gel washes off with water.
Tell us before the test if you have had a recent stroke, sickle cell disease, serious heart or lung disease, or are pregnant — we adapt the activation steps.
