Automatic dose modulation and paediatric protocols keep the dose as low as reasonably achievable. Tell the technologist if you are or may be pregnant. Most scans take under 10 minutes.
When doctors need answers fast
Computed Tomography uses a rotating X-ray beam to create cross-sectional "slices" of the body, reconstructed into detailed images by computer.
CT is the first-line scan for head injuries, suspected stroke, chest problems, abdominal pain, kidney stones and trauma — precisely because it's fast, accurate and widely applicable. It's also excellent for planning surgery and for monitoring known conditions. For follow-up scanning, your doctor will consider whether ultrasound or MRI can answer the same question without radiation.
Our Hitachi Eclos 8 is a modern scanner with dose-reduction technology: automatic dose modulation and paediatric protocols keep the dose as low as reasonably achievable, with most scans done in 5–10 minutes on the table. It's the same scanner model across our Baddi, Nalagarh and Nohar centers.

Contrast CT — screened before, monitored during
Many CTs use an iodine-based contrast injected through an IV to highlight vessels and organs. Contrast shows blood vessels, tumours and infections that a plain scan can miss.
- If you take metformin, bring your prescription — we will tell you whether to pause it after the scan, following your doctor's advice. If you have kidney disease, diabetes of long standing, are over 60, or take diuretics/NSAIDs, bring a serum creatinine report done within the last 30 days (7 days if you are unwell). We can do the test at our lab the same morning
- You're monitored during the injection; the warmth you feel is normal
- Drink water before and after your contrast scan unless your doctor has restricted your fluids — good hydration protects the kidneys
