The first-line scan for abdomen and pregnancy
Ultrasound (USG / sonography) uses high-frequency sound waves — not radiation — to create real-time images of organs, blood flow and a developing baby.
It's completely painless: a gel is applied to the skin and a probe glides over the area. You can watch the screen as it happens. Because there's no radiation, ultrasound is the usual first scan for the abdomen, pelvis, thyroid and scrotum, and for every stage of pregnancy. In younger women ultrasound is usually the first breast test; from about 40 years, or where cancer is suspected, mammography is the first-line study and ultrasound is added to it.
We run GE machines only — LOGIQ P9 at Baddi, Voluson P8 Advance and Voluson S10 at Nalagarh, Voluson P8 at Pinjore. The Voluson family is the industry standard for obstetric imaging, including detailed 3D/4D fetal images.

The bladder rule, in one line
Upper abdomen (liver, gallbladder, pancreas): fast 6 hours. Pelvis, KUB and early pregnancy: comfortably full bladder — 3–4 glasses of water an hour before. Thyroid, breast, scrotum and soft tissue: no preparation.
